There's more to Tim Minchin than just funny songs and eyeliner...
Tim Minchin is also a musical theatre director, he has written all of the music for the Royal Shakespeare Company's version of Matilda, which opens on the 8th of November 2010, this is a big project for him, as theatre is something he has always been interested in, as he has written plays and been involved in theatre for a long time. He has played Hamlet for the Perth Theatre Company in 2004, he has also acted for the Australian Theatre Company and had other various small parts, in films and theatre. A noteable film Tim has appeared in is Two Fists and One Heart, which is an Australian film and released in March 2009, he plays the one of the main character's brother, he also performs one of his songs 'Drowned' which he wrote for the film.
So yes... We all know he's amazing, but could you please tell me how this man became famous?!
Tim Minchin was in a band called Timmy the Dog, their first album was called Sit. The band members were his brother, Dan Minchin, on Guitar, Josh Jones on Bass and Gordon Ryder on Drums, Dan and Josh also provided backing vocals. Tim played piano and provided lead vocals.
This album didn't get them very far, and Tim Minchin started a small caberet show in the Butterfly Club in Melbourne, and went from there to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, to the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, and after this festival, he was signed to a British Manager, moved to London, and began his tours and appearances as we know them.
